A. The Beginnings

Sekolah Tunas Indonesia was first established in August 2000 as a pre-school by the name of United Kindergarten and operated in a small leased premises in Bintaro with the address Bintaro Jaya Sector IX, Jl. Bintaro Utama Blok HB I/11 (+ 300 m from McDonald?s) as a pilot project.

Why Bintaro?
Based upon search, our Team found Bintaro as a residential area of highly educated young families who need vibrant and rigorous education for their potential children.

In the first year the pre-school operating under the name of United Kindergarten only had 6 (six) students (2000/2001) with a caucasion American teacher as the Principal, who then halfway resigned for having no confidence that the school would succeed. Desperate of the school?s future, the school was offered to a group of lecturers of the Letter Faculty of English Division of Universitas Indonesia to take-over and manage with our full support and financing. After making a bit of research, they were all discouraged by the numerous schools already existing in the area and, finally, brought to decline the offer.

It was when approaching to the third year, we decided to build and move to a more permanent facility nearby with the address Bintaro Jaya Sector IX, Jl. Raya Jombang 18, Tangerang 15227 which was started with a 2-Storeys building with 16 Air Conditioned (AC) class rooms and complete facilities.

B. Market Surveys

Based on the above, a number of studies were commissioned by STI, to assess the feasibility of relocating the school to a new site to enable a bigger and better facility. As Step 1, market research and surveys were undertaken to assess the demand. As Step 2, suitable lands and buildings surveys were made followed, thereafter, with preparation of budget and feasibility study. All these efforts culminated in a report which strongly recommended an expansion and an extension to primary school.

C. Planning

Between 2000?2002 by the Team, on a race against time, hardworks were laboured in earnest to hunt for land sites, to prepare drawings, to process licences not to mention the recruitment process and marketing efforts.

D. Moving Forward with STI

A new and well-purpose-designed school and facilities co covering + 1,700 M? located on + 3,000 M? land are in place timely, right before the new school year started. To our surprise, there are so many parents impressed with the school and we were overly capacitated for having accepted + 230 students or 60% from the previous number of our students. The school has a total 40 employees, half of them are teachers and associate teachers.
